Nintendo 3DS Getting A Rush Of Mega Man Classics!

If you're in the mood for some Mega Man on the go, the 3DS is quickly becoming the system of choice. Already populated by the 6 classic NES games as well as the first Game Boy Mega Man, Capcom is gearing up to bring 6 additional Mega Man titles to Nintendo's latest handheld. Capcom has stated that these games are "coming soon" but I would not be surprised to see these release 1 per month through the remainder of the year since that has been the release schedule for the NES titles on 3DS. Here is a current list of the classic Game Boy Mega Man games coming to the 3DS Virtual Console:
  • Mega Man II (Game Boy)
  • Mega Man III (Game Boy)
  • Mega Man IV (Game Boy)
  • Mega Man V (Game Boy)
  • Mega Man Xtreme (Game Boy Color)
  • Mega Man Xtreme 2 (Game Boy Color)
It's an impressive lineup as this is the first time in roughly 15 years that these games have been made available outside of their original release. Mega Man V is especially noteworthy due to it being a truly original Mega Man game that wasn't a spin-off of its NES/SNES cousins. Given the warm reception Mega Man has been receiving on Nintendo consoles (in terms of Virtual Console and Smash Bros.), Capcom would be wise to turn the Blue Bomber into a Nintendo exclusive franchise as that is where he truly thrives. While not yet exclusive, Sonic has made similar headway on Nintendo consoles and has proven quite successful leading to the Nintendo published Sonic Lost World due out this October.
