Donkey Kong Country Slips To 2014 While New Kirby Game Is Announced!

During today's Nintendo Direct, company president Satoru Iwata announced that Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze needed more development time resulting in a delay from its original December 2013 release. The game is now slated for February 2014 which should help the Wii U during the traditionally slow release period that happens in the first 2 months of the year. As much as game delays disappoint fans, this type of move ultimately helps the industry seeing as many big titles tend to get lost in the holiday rush which floods the market during the last 3 months of the year.

Nintendo softened the news of the delay with the revelation of a brand new Kirby game coming to the Nintendo 3DS next year. The game looks like a continuation of the excellent Kirby's Return to Dream Land which hit the Wii in 2011. No official titled has been revealed but the classic 2D gameplay is sure to delight longtime Kirby fans. Nintendo also revealed an early gameplay teaser trailer for the game. Enjoy!
