Super Smash Bros. Wii U Gets GameCube Controller Support!

Nintendo is about to unleash the new Super Smash Bros. at this years E3 and the gaming world couldn't be more excited. The Big N has even stepped into the competitive gaming world with the announcement of an invitational tournament which will feature a slew of pro Super Smash Bros. players, all being featured worldwide on June 10th. To support this event, Nintendo has released an E3 2014 announcement video which details the entire event and ends with a surprise that few saw coming.

With the level of hype and excitement being generated around the new game, fans have been eagerly awaiting any news of GameCube controller support for the game. While there are other companies stepping up to support the game, official Nintendo hardware is second to none both in terms of quality and performance so it's understandable that Gamer's want something straight from the Big N. With today's announcement video, Nintendo revealed the GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U. The adapter connects to the Wii U through the 2 USB ports on the front of the system and supports four wired controllers (the WaveBird will likely be supported but no announcement has been made). Expect full details and pricing at E3 and don't be surprised if the GameCube Virtual Console is announced as well. Enjoy!
