Sega Expands 3DS Virtual Console With Game Gear Classics

Sega is throwing a lot of support behind Nintendo suddenly which is a welcome change of pace for the Big N. While the Virtual Console on Nintendo 3DS has some nice classics, it has been very slow to add games with only a limited offering of NES, Game Boy and Game Gear titles. Sega is looking to change things up with the announcement of 13 games from their Game Gear library.
  • Crystal Warriors
  • Columns
  • Shining Force II: The Sword of Hajya
  • Defenders of Oasis
  • Sonic Blast (Already available in Europe)
  • Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
  • Sonic Drift 2
  • G-Loc Air Battle
  • Tails Adventure
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • Sonic Laybrinth (Already available in Europe)
  • Vampire: Master of Darkness
One thing to note is that over half of the games are from the Sonic series while the rest are made up of other classic franchises. It seems that this in conjunction with the new Nintendo Sega partnership provides some evidence that Nintendo may just become the new home for Sonic and possibly other classic Sega properties (which makes sense considering how well Sonic titles perform on Nintendo consoles). Just think of how amazing a Panzer Dragoon on the Wii U could be, just a though.
