The Nintendo Wii U has had a rough first year but things are beginning to turn around as we enter the Fall 2013 season. Nintendo has announced today that the Wii U Deluxe 32GB (Black console) will see a price cut to $299.99 on September 20th to coincide with the eShop release of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (The physical retail release of Wind Waker HD is October 4th). That is a $50 price cut and officially makes the Wii U $100 cheaper than the upcoming PS4 and $200 cheaper than the upcoming XBOne making this holiday season pretty interesting for the 3 next gen consoles.
The price cut also brings a new limited edition of the Wii U Deluxe which comes bundled with Wind Waker HD and a special Zelda themed GamePad. To be clear, the system comes with a eShop voucher for the digital version of the game which can be downloaded the same day the new bundle launches, September 20th. The original Wii U Deluxe bundled with Nintendo Land will also be available at the new price. This also means that the Wii U Basic (White console) is being phased out completely as remaining stock has almost been sold through at this point and Nintendo shows no interest in continuing this model. The new price and flood of great new games this fall will make the Wii U a serious competitor as PS4 and XBOne launch in November.
